Initial Competency Evaluation
VeritasHealthCare is committed to professionalism, high
standards and quality service. Our health care professionals
must meet employment and practice requirements set forth by
applicable regulatory agencies.
- Provide documented evidence to verify employment
eligibility to work in the United States
- Have a cleared employment criminal background check and
drug screen
- Have verification of professional and education references
- Complete competency screenings for their experience and
expertise
- Provide health clearance in accordance with specific
Federal. Local, and State regulatory guidelines
- o Hepatitis B
- Two Measles Mumps Rubella (MMR) inoculations if born
after 1957: One MMR inoculation if born before
1957
- Tuberculin Skin Test (PPD) (current, within one
year)
- Reliable history of Chicken Pox and Varicella
titer
- Any other facility specific requirements set forth in
the Statement of Work
- Have a minimum of one year of recent experience within the
last three years specific to the specialty area assigned
- VeritasHealthCare associates are carefully screened to
ensure that they are competent to perform their job, and
meet specific certification or licensure requirements.
- At a minimum, licensed nurses must meet the requirements
as set forth by State of Boards of Nursing:
- Successfully completed curriculum requirements from an
accredited school of nursing
- Successfully passed the NCLEX
- Possess an unrestricted and current license

Orientation
During the orientation stage we evaluate the
candidate's knowledge of key competencies, such as:
- Clinical/Technical proficiencies
- Abuse and neglect
- Blood borne pathogens and infectious diseases
- Restraints
- Patient confidentiality
- Pain management
- Patient safety
- Medication administration and safety
- Other pertinent information required by JCAHO, OSHA
and other regulations/organizations

Evaluation
The final stage of competency assessment consists of the
applicant's performance as it relates to the job requirements
and the unit-specific job description provided by the client
facility. Continuous evaluation assesses the following areas:
- Communication, confidentiality, customer service
- Adaptability, flexibility
- Teamwork, cooperation
- Reliability, attendance
- Initiative, enthusiasm
- Professionalism, continuing education
Continuing competency is assessed through a review of client
evaluations, audits
and continuing education. When appropriate, we also conduct
interviews with nurse managers who work with our healthcare
professionals.
